Technofied Lesson Revision

Process Review

           

            To begin the revision process I started by reviewing my original webquest submission titled “One Bug, Two Bugs, Three Bugs, Score!”.  I decided upon the components that would be included in a non-technofied version of the lesson to create the first part of the assignment. 

The non-technofied version did not include:

-The webquest formatting

-The use of the class blog

-The use of a video camera/recording component

-The questionnaire online

I then shifted my focus back to the technofied lesson, creating a plan for myself in regards to the revision process. 

I began by working on the visual aspects of the lesson as a whole.  I added graphics, incorporated a template for the design of the body, and re-worked the fonts and colors within the body of the lesson. 

The next step involved addressing the issues I noticed from the check-point prompts.

For this step I;

-Completely revised my evaluation rubric within the assignment

-Added more details to each process step

-I researched sites for students to visit while researching their insects and updated the TASK portion of the webquest.

-I created a guide/example for the questionnaire segment within the lesson.

The majority of my lesson revisions involved working backwards which was a new experience.  If I had more time to work on this I would have liked to incorporate google doc’s for the student’s to use as their questionnaire tool rather than word.  I would also have created a fully developed and written out original lesson plan. 

The challenge for me with this assignment involved time management more than anything else.  As I mentioned earlier, I appreciate the guidance quest garden provided while creating my webquest.  The prompts/questions that were asked throughout the creation of the webquest lesson were immensely helpful to me.  The process allowed to me to not become complacent and keep the focus of the lesson (objectives, depth and quality).

I plan to explore the different formats and templates available through quest garden over the next few weeks.  There are many options to guide the development of the lesson.

One Bug, Two Bugs, Three Bugs, Score!

Integrated Music, Science, & Language Arts Lesson

Grade:  4^th/5^th Grade

Objectives: Music; Composition and Singing alone and as an ensemble member.  Science; research and data collection using the scientific method as a framework.  Language Arts; composition, grammar & vocabulary development, writing skill development.

Process:

In small groups students will explore composing simple four phrase songs using the ABAC format as a guide.  The songs will allow students to present research data they have collected regarding their insect/anthropoid/arachnid.  Students will perform their group songs for each other in class, then reflect as a class.  Additionally students will work on developing their writing and language arts skills by recording their data by hand.  Additionally students will create an assessment tool for their viewers (classmates) in the form of a questionnaire, to be filled out after viewing each group’s presentations.    

Technofied Music Lesson

For my Technofied Lesson I chose to revise and complete my original web quest using Quest Garden.  For my teaching presentation I would like to use the lesson plan viewed by you (our class) as our student's would.  I think that the web quest does a better job expressing the process for this project then I ever could!

I am very impressed with this application as a whole.  I appreciated the check points, the prompts helped me immensely with the revision process.  I am excited to try this lesson out in my classroom!

Story #2: A moment in the life of a pre-school student.

I would like to say thank you to the Missoula International School for allowing me to collaborate on a segment of their 2012 annual fundraising campaign video.  They allowed me to work on this project for both this class and MIS.  For that again I say thank you.

Arts in Education Podcast

I have been working on uploading this from Garage band for the last hour.  For whatever reason it will save the video and the music track there, but won't upload it.  I apologize if it doesn't play with the music track, I am submitting it anyway before I throw my computer.  I also just realized my last slide looks backwards as though you are reading it in a mirror.  I apologize for this over sight.  I am still getting used to my MAC and Photo Booth.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions for me on how to fix the compatibility issues I am experiencing.  Thank you!!!!!
